Spring Cleaning at Nico’s

I have been home a little too long, and staring at all of the messy messes. It is time to get serious about Spring Cleaning.

Yesterday I cleaned and organized all of the kitchen drawers, and today I started working on the cabinets. I also tackled cleaning the buffet in the dining room, it is where I store my Nicostuff Jewelry supplies and sewing machine. After the little cleaning tasks, I had 2 full trash bags of stuff ready to get out of the house. It is a pretty good start to the big Spring Cleaning tasks ahead.

Have you started your Spring Cleaning?

Who Made the Mess?

Around my birthday I received a Bissell Perfect Sweep Turbo from my Mom, and it is one awesome cleaning machine! I have had so much fun cleaning up around the house, and the Perfect Sweep Turbo can clean Carpet and Hardwood floors beautifully! It is also very quiet, I can clean while Dylan is playing in his Bouncer, and it doesn’t bother him a bit. You can also clean while talking on the phone too, just in case you are in to that 😉

One evening after dinner, we were enjoying some tasty Chocolate Bundt Cake, and I was sweeping up in the Dining Room. My hubby was impressed at just how quiet the Sweeper was, and I was telling him just how easy it was to clean with it. Just then Thade proudly stated “Mom, I made more crumbs for you to clean!” James and I both fell apart laughing at the Chocolate Cake mess that Thade had made in the Living Room, it was just too funny. He was so proud that he had another cleaning task for Mom. The Bissell Perfect Sweep cleaned up all of the Cake crumbs beautifully, and I went on ahead and swept up the rest of the living room while I was at it.

Thanks again for the great sweeper Mom (Nana)! It has truly changed my cleaning up routine, and it has come in pretty handy with all the little mess makers in my house 😉

Staying In

Well I had a plan to venture outdoors today, but I decided to stay in and finish some tasks around the house. I stayed in and cleaned out the fridge and freezer, baked a Chocolate Bundt Cake for my hubby, and I made Pasta Salad for later on in the week. I also deep cleaned the floors (thanks Nana for the new vacuum), and even caulked around the windows in the living room. Since my computer is on the fritz, it gave me a little more time to clean up around the house, so I polished the furniture and cleaned the windows too. I kinda hope my computer is well tomorrow, I don’t know if I have too much left to clean 😉

Tomorrow I’ll be putting away the six loads of laundry that were washed today, and I’ll be deep cleaning the upstairs floors. Maybe I’ll finally make that Walgreens trip too 🙂

Who made the mess in the Foyer?

Could it be Hurricane Thade?

Just another mess that has got to get cleaned up… and the living room (again) also. I guess that makes 2 messes that need to get cleaned up 😉

So Much Better

I’m going a little stir crazy, and I’ve been on a cleaning rampage in the Living Room today. The toys and clutter were just too much, and some major cleaning had to be done! I’ve just taken out my third trash bag full of junk, and I’m feeling much better about the room as a whole 🙂

The bookshelves have been rearranged with Thade’s toys on the higher shelves, and Dylan’s toys in the bins below. The toy organizer is organized (finally), with Thade’s big boy toys in the red dividers, and Dylan’s plushes in the box. Everything that is at Dylan’s level is baby-proofed, and safe for him to play with too.

playpen-1.JPG Even the play pen was reorganized and de-cluttered 🙂 I think Dylan will have more fun playing now that there is less clutter.

There is still (and will always be) a lot to do, but it is a good start on the road to a clutter free downstairs Living Room. I know the entire family will enjoy the space more!
