Here Comes the Cold Weather

The cooler weather moved in yesterday. I tried to get the kids out before it got too cold, but the weather beat me to it. I bundled up the little guys for just a bit of play-time in the yard, I think we only made it about 10 minutes πŸ˜‰

Thade had a lot of fun playing in all of the leaves, he loves crunching them with his feet. Dylan was grumpy from teething, but the change of scenery helped a bit. My kitties stayed nice and warm inside, and looked out to see what we were doing in the chilly weather.

10:15 a.m. Time for Breakfast

breakfast-1.JPGWith Thade busy building with blocks and screaming at Dylan for destroying his creation my migraine was raging. It was 10:15 a.m., and I was midway through washing dishes when I realized that I hadn’t had a minute to stop for breakfast.Β  I decided to take a little break, make more dirty dishes, and have a delicious bowl of Oatmeal with Dried Cranberries and Vanilla-Yogurt covered Raisins. Not to mention a second cup of desperately needed coffee πŸ˜‰

This morning Thade and I learned a few valuable lessons: Mommy is a little grumpy if she doesn’t get breakfast, and if you put anything on the floor Dylan will roll over and destroy it.Β  11:00 a.m. already! Time to go and make some lunch for the big kid πŸ™‚

Hey Mom I’m Up!

Last night was another long night, James was up rocking a screaming Dylan until midnight, and I continued well past 1:00 a.m. Finally Dylan fell asleep for just a little bit, but woke up at 3:00 a.m. to eat. He wasn’t the only one, I could hear Thade yelling “hey mom I’m up”. Once Dylan was all finished nursing, I went in to check on Thade, and I got him back to sleep too.

Thade was up and ready to go at 7:00 a.m., but mommy wasn’t. I woke up sneezing, coughing, and with two very swollen tonsils. I finally caught the cold that I was trying to avoid. Great πŸ™Β  I decided to check my symptoms online, and home remedies too. I love the first remedy: rest as much as possible, I don’t think that one is going to happen any time soon πŸ˜‰

I’ve put a call in to the Doctor on call, as our family Physician is off today. I’m waiting to see if I should bring the kiddos in, or not. I know that most of the children’s cold medicines have been pulled from the shelves, and with me nursing I don’t know what is safe to take. It sounds like it is going to be chicken and noodle soup for me, but rest I don’t think so.

Any advice to get me and the kiddos back to normal? Do you have a homemade remedy that helps out during the cold and flu season?

The Day After (yucky post)

My goodness last night was a very long night, with one grumpy baby. Dylan wasn’t feeling well at all, and no matter what I tried, he would not go to sleep. He fought sleep until well past 3:00 a.m., even after I nursed him on the hour. Thade was also up at midnight, he said that his nose was stuffy.

I finally caught about 2 hours of sleep from 5:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m. Both Thade and Dylan were up by 7:30 a.m. I’m one tired Mommy today. This morning Thade still wasn’t feeling too well, and Dylan too had the stuffy nose. Around 1:00 p.m., while I was prepping the kitchen to do a giant stock the freezer day, Thade announced that he wasn’t feeling well at all, and threw up all over the kitchen floor. Luckily he missed Dylan, who was playing in one of his bouncy chairs. I got Thade cleaned up, and then cleaned the kitchen. I had a feeling that today was going to be one of those days.

I hope that Dylan doesn’t get the upset stomach like Thade. I had better try and get some energy back, just in case πŸ˜‰ Thade is feeling better this afternoon, thank goodness.

Shopping Trip

Halloween hasn’t happened yet, but it is already Christmas at our local Supercenter. Today as we approached the entrance of the store I could see a giant Christmas tree where there were costumes just last week. Thade spotted the tree too, and then the questions started, is it Christmas, and where are my presents.

I was there to get a costume for Dylan. I know I’m so last minute, but until today I hadn’t found anything that I really liked. I went through the last rack of costumes, hoping for the best. I lucked out andΒ  found an adorable “baby calf” costume. I think it is fitting, since Dylan is a big milk drinker at the moment πŸ˜‰

Thade is getting really excited about tomorrow, and is ready to get his costume on today. I hope he can make it until tomorrow.
