A Start and Almost Finished

Today the weather is cold cold cold, and we are stuck indoors. I thought it would be a great opportunity to get out my sewing machine and start working on the Tree Skirt for our Christmas tree. I got a pretty good start, but I think I’m going to need a little bit more fabric.

I also ran out of thread… bummer, I guess I will have to get to the fabric shop fast! Maybe if it gets a little warmer.

I’ll have to wait a bit on the tree skirt, but I found another project to finish.

I started on this bag a long time ago. I wanted a big bag that I could carry just about everything in, and I used small Hounds-tooth fabric. Once the bag was all sewn, I realized that the hounds-tooth fabric was a bit much, so I cut out stars in coordinating fabrics, and I sewed them on by hand. It took forever, I’m not too speedy at the hand sewing.

Today I got the handles on, and I thought I was finished… I think I might sew in a few pockets to hold all of my necessities. I guess I’ll be working on this bag for a little bit more…

  1. I LOVE THAT BAG!!! Great job! And way to tone down the houndstooth, although I’m sure it would have been nice, too, if you had left off the stars.

    Bummer, now I want a new bag….lol…

  2. Thanks Susan! I have to agree, it is a pretty cool bag 🙂 And it is plenty big too, but I think it is in need of a pocket or two. It seems like I can never finish a project over here 😉

  3. Thanks Ellie! I love to sew, and this bag was a lot of fun to make too. I just need to be a bit faster when I hand sew it took me 2 weeks during the evenings to get all of those stars on the bag 😉

  4. Thanks Mimi! I have been thinking about selling my bags and a few other sewn items on Nicostuff. I still have a few bracelets that I need to get on my site too. Thanks again!

  5. Nico- the bag is soo cute! Any chance the tutorial will be up soon? I was hoping to try and make one or two for gifts. I think it would be great to put them on your site to sell!

  6. Thanks Heather! I really need to get some pictures together, and some bright fabric that will photograph well too. If only the boy’s will give me some time 😉
