I’m starting something new on nicostuff.com, and I hope that you’ll enjoy it too. Every Saturday I’ll be posting a new craft, or recipe, or maybe even a fast project that can be done for a fun and simple Saturday.
Today we are kicking off the Simple Saturday project with a beyond easy table decoration that will get the kiddos involved too.
If the weather is cooperating, and the kiddos are climbing the walls because of a long holiday, it’s time to get out of the house and look for pine cones.
Take along a reuseable shopping bag, and let the kiddos pick up as many pine cones as they can find. We like to pick up pine cones while we are waiting for Thade to get out of school. Bring the pine cones home with you, and grab your favorite holiday bowls.

My Mom brought us home these pretty pine cones from her trip to Colorado. I arranged them in Autumn themed pottery, and it made a cute table decoration for Thanksgiving.
When Christmas rolls around, keep those pine cones, and swap out the Autumn pottery for Christmas themed bowls.

You can always add in some evergreen sprigs or faux-berries to decorate your pine cones for Christmas too.
I also like to arrange my pine cones in a tall glass cylinder .

This would look lovely paired with Holiday candles for your Christmas dessert buffet, or for a simple table setting too.
Happy Saturday! Bundle up, and go find some pine cones.
Great idea! Looking forward to more posts!!! 🙂
Great ideas! My kids brought me home some pinecones from the golf course that look like they’re petrified. I think I’ll display them for Christnas like yours.
