Thanksgiving Thoughts…

I’ve got the basic menu planned out, but I seem to be missing something… Maybe you can help me out with my Thanksgiving menu, and share some dishes that you are going to be serving on your table too.

So far it looks like I’ll be making:

  • Turkey (of course, I picked up one today)
  • Green Bean Casserole (it isn’t Thanksgiving without this dish)
  • Stuffing (from a box, or from scratch… haven’t decided)
  • Rolls (from scratch, maybe clover shaped)
  • Mashed Potatoes (after watching tonight’s Throwdown with Bobby Flay they are a must have)
  • Chicken and Noodles ( a KS tradition, I make them from scratch, and I perfected a mini batch at lunch today)

And then there must be a few desserts:

  • Pumpkin Pie with Fresh Whipped Topping (all from scratch, oh yeah!)
  • Chocolate Bundt Cake or Chocolate Cream Pie (kids like cake, hubby likes pie, maybe I’ll make both)
  • Cranberry White Chocolate Almond Cookies (you know I love to make some cookies)

We need snacks too…

  • Veggie Tray
  • Chex Mix (I like to omit the Wheat and add in Crispix, so tasty)

So what do you have planned for your Turkey Day menu? Any family favorite classics that are a must have on your table?

  1. Maybe you need a salad of some kind. I always like to pretend I’m not eating as badly as I am on the holidays by throwing a “healthy” thing in with the good stuff. : )

  2. It all sounds great! We are having cream corn (fried corn) fresh from the garden (frozen) along with potato salad and sweet potato casserole too. We always have a ham and a turkey (the parents want both). 🙂

    Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

  3. I almost forgot…..Chciken and dressing made with cornbread. This is not stovetop or stuffing. You don’t stuff the bird with it. But it is yummy and no southern Thanksgiving is complete without it! 😉

  4. Your menu sounds super good! I have never made it but we often buy cranberry relish from the deli at the grocery store, it is a nice healthier option to eat along with all the heavy goodies. This is the first year my husband and I will be having serving Thanksgiving meal to my family(small number). One big help is each person is bringing a dish. Mostly I am in charge of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, rolls.
