While I was making a shopping list Thade asked if we could buy Strawberry Milk and Blueberries. Here is how the conversation went down…
Thade: Mom can we please buy blueberries and strawberry milk?
Mom: Thade, do you even like strawberry milk and blueberries?
Thade: I love them, I had them at school.
Mom: Really?!?
Thade: Yep, they are delicious, I promise I will eat them…
Mom: (thinking it over and realizing that Thade NEVER asks for fruit, so it might be a good idea) O.k. we’ll add them to the list.
Thade: Yay!
Then we went shopping, and I came home and made a delicious snack for the kids which included Strawberry Milk, Blueberries, and Bananas. Here is the result:
Thade: (popped a blueberry in his mouth) I don’t like blueberries!
Dylan: (also popped a blueberry in his mouth, and then spit it out quickly) Eeewwww yucky! I don’t like them, but I’ll squish them on my plate.
So this was a big blueberry FAIL! What to do with all of the leftover blueberries though…

I tried sneaking them into homemade blueberry muffins, but still this one was also a miss. I like them, but none of the guys liked them one bit.

Yesterday I whipped up a batch of Strawberry-Banana-Blueberry Ice-Pops for the kiddos, and I’m going to see if they like the berries better in frozen form. We’ll see if they like them or not… I guess it is good that I didn’t invest in a berry patch for the backyard.
I know how you feel. I put them in yogurt and make smoothies. My kids ate them when they were in grade school, but now they think they’re yucky.
Have your kids had kiwis yet? I bet they’d like them.
When I send fruit trays to my kids class parties, all the kids fight over the kiwi slices.
My oldest Jake loves kiwi! funny, i don’t think I knew they existed when I was 4! I make smoothies alot, it’s the best way to get the youngest to eat fruit!!
I will send Corrynn over to eat blueberries with you! I broke down and bought her some today. Those ice-pops look good after being outside for ball practice : )
Thanks Mimi! Good job sneaking in blueberries too. I’ll give the kiwis a try, my hubby loves those! My boys are funny, Thade is really picky and doesn’t like his fruite and veggies and then Dylan will eat anything.
Thanks Heather! Kiwi are super yummy 🙂 My hubby loves them too! I want my kiddos to get more fruits and veggies in their diet, but Thade is super picky. Maybe he’ll grow out of it one day.
Thanks Stacey! I was thinking about Corrynn when the boys wouldn’t eat their blueberries. I think I even said that she likes them 🙂 The kiddos really liked the ice pops too, and they didn’t want ice cream, when the ice cream truck rolled by.
