Bumbo Recall !?!

Well this one got me fired up this morning. Usually I wouldn’t write such a grumpy post, but this one got me more than a little mad. My hubby came in and asked if I saw the news, because they are recalling the Bumbo seat. I missed the story at 6:oo a.m. but I stayed glued to the t.v. waiting for the story to cycle through again, while James got busy researching the recall on the web.

About 6:45 a.m. here come the recalls: yet again more Fisher-Price toys, and yes my beloved Bumbo seat. The Bumbo recall was due to injuries from falls from a raised surface, such as a KITCHEN COUNTER TOP or KITCHEN TABLE! The stock film on the news even showed a lady placing the Bumbo seat on a granite kitchen counter top (there was no child in the seat), it is one of those moments when you have to say DUH! Why on Earth would you ever set your baby on a KITCHEN TABLE or COUNTER TOP in any seat is beyond me. I think this one really comes down to common sense, let’s use some when it comes to our children’s safety.

Even the Bumbo box states : WARNING, do not place on a raised surface. Designed for floor level use only, do not leave your child unattended.

My seat is safely on the living room FLOOR, and my little one is always under Mommy’s watchful eye. What will be recalled next Potty Chairs, Boppy’s, and Binky’s? Let me know what you think about the recent recalls… Are you as grumpy as me?

  1. Aren’t all these recalls crazy? But yet, it is just that: common sense, or lack thereof in some situations.

  3. What will they recall next? Plastic cups and plates for toddlers? Who knows they may have already. You know some folks are short a marble or two and the common sense thing goes out the window. I feel sorry for their children, don’t you Nicole?

    I saw one of your comments on another site and I thought “wait a minute, why havent I read anything new from Nico lately?” and then it hit me! Duh! I forgot to update my feed.
