Super Fun Sunday

The weather wasn’t cooperating, but that wasn’t going to keep us in the house on Sunday. I had a plan in mind to give James a day off, and I would take the kiddos to visit their Nana. I loaded up the car early, and the boy’s couldn’t wait to get to Nana’s house.

We had a few surprises planned for the day, and I knew exactly where we should visit first. We took the kids to Panera for lunch, and it was so delicious. I love their Cheddar Broccoli Soup in a Sourdough Bread Bowl, and the kids really enjoyed their sandwiches too. After lunch we decided to head out of town and visit Richardson’s Candy House.

I have only been there once or twice, and this was the boy’s first time to visit the Candy House, and Thade couldn’t wait to go.

Richardson’s Candy House features an open kitchen where you can watch the chocolatiers hard at work creating the delicious treats. There are so many candies available, and many specialty products too. We wandered upstairs to look at the antiques and crafts for sale. Richardson’s is a great shop to visit, and I picked up a few sweet treats for my family too.

The boy’s made me laugh though… As we walked through the candy shop gazing at all of the handmade chocolates, they both picked up a Ring Pop and said that was what they wanted. I picked up a chocolate lollipop to take home for each of them, seriously who wouldn’t want chocolate after visiting the Candy Shop?!?

Since it was a little chilly, we couldn’t visit the park. Thade remembered that there was a Toy’s R Us, and my Mom and I felt up to the challenge. Thade loves Toy’s R Us, and Dylan was pretty excited too. The boy’s had fun running around the store and looking at all of the amazing toys. I ventured into Baby’s R Us to look at some of the cute little clothes, and shoes. The kids had a blast at Toy’s R Us, and nobody wanted to leave.

We headed back across town to Nana’s house, to take a little snack break before we shopped Target. I had a few groceries to get, and I really love shopping at Target. I always find way too many things that I think I need though. James is lucky that we don’t have a Target locally, I would be shopping there every day!

Before we knew it our day was coming to an end, and I still needed to pick up dinner for James at our favorite place. We had such a fun day at Nana’s house, and we already have a few more days planned, for the next time that James needs a day off, and I need a day in the city.

  1. Thanks Nana! Thank you so much for having us, the boy’s had a blast, and they can’t wait to come and visit again. I hope that next time the weather cooperates and we can visit the Carousel Park, or the Arbor center, but I think another trip to Panera is definitely on the to do list. Sending big hugs and lots of love your way. Thanks again for such a fun day!

  2. Sounds like you had a really great day in spite of the weather not cooperating….aren’t mom’s the best! Hugs!

  3. Thanks Ellie! I’ve got to agree with you Mom’s are the best, especially when they treat you to lunch at Panera 😉 We had a lot of fun, and I hope the next time, the weather will be a little warmer. The boy’s really enjoyed the Candy Shop too.

  4. What a fun day! We have head colds here. Hoping we feel better by the weekend. I did take the boys to an inside egg hunt at one of the mom’s houses in my MOm’s Group on Monday. they had alot of fun.

  5. Thanks Heather! I hope that you and your little guys feel better soon! Sending well wishes your way. I love indoor egg hunts, we went to one this weekend too. They are the best 🙂 I’m glad that you and your boys are enjoying your Mom’s group!

  6. Thanks Marva! The candy store was so much fun, and they have several locations. The one we went to really looks like it could be made out of candy. I got some Chocolate Covered Caramels, and some Pecan Turtles too, they are too good.

  7. Thanks for the well wishes NIco. I think the baby has it the worst right now. Poor guy. Isn’t it funny how we still call the youngest ‘the baby’ even though he has turned one. smile… How are you feeling lately? Did you stomach settle down?

  8. Thanks Heather! I still call Dylan the baby too, and he is two 😉 I really hope you are all better soon, I think that colds are so tough on little ones. Dylan has had a runny nose (allergies) and it is driving him crazy, he just points at his nose, and says “oh no”. Get well soon, and sending big hugs your way 🙂

I’m starting to feel a lot better. I think my tummy troubles are finally improving, but I sure am tired all of the time. I try and grab a nap whenever I can and by 9:30 p.m., I’m done for the night. I go and see the Doctor soon, so we’ll see what she says. Thanks for thinking of me.

  9. My kids still go for the ring pops, too!
It sounds like you had a really fun day. You are so lucky to have your mom nearby.

  10. Thanks Mimi! I thought it was so funny… with all of that amazing hand dipped chocolates, and my boys wanted Ring Pops. Oh well, at least they knew what they liked 😉 I feel bad that I don’t get over to see my Mom more often, she is about 1 1/2 hour from us, but she is really good about coming our way to visit.
