At Home Arby’s

Since we are missing take-out, I’ve got a few faux take-out meals to keep the drive thru temptations away. Last night I made at Home Arby’s, and it was so darn good, it might just be tough to go back to real Arby’s.

I made fresh homemade butter rolls for the sandwiches, and I piled them high with Roast Beef that had been warmed in Beef Broth. I picked up the Roast Beef at the Deli counter for about $5.00 a pound. One pound of Roast Beef made 6 very generous sandwiches.

When we made the Aldi run I spotted a bag of curly fries for just $1.55! I thought this little addition would help the look of this faux fast food meal even more. The best part, we only used 1/2 of the bag for dinner, so we still have a 1/2 bag left for a future meal. This was also a big savings too, for about the cost of a single Arby’s curly fries, I got about 8 servings of delicious curly fries!

I even kept a few Arby’s sauce packets from out last trip to Arby’s, so the boy’s were not without their beloved sauce.

The verdict….. Thade loved it and gave it a thumbs up! Dylan only liked the Curly Fries (same way with Arby’s), and then just wanted a sugar cookie instead. James said that it was “absolutely delicious” and also gave the meal an double thumbs up. I loved it too, it was so tasty, and super fast and easy to make too.

Making the meal at home saved a bundle. The closest Arby’s is 30 minutes away, and that costs a bit in the old gas tank. We also had plenty of big sandwiches left-over for those late night cravings. I will definitely move the faux Arby’s sandwiches into the menu rotation for a fast lunch or a delicious dinner.

  1. Way to go Nicole! We love the curly fries from Aldi too. Did you deep fry or bake them. They are so good baked. We haven’t deep fried them yet….probably won’t. It looks yummy! So glad the boys approved! Blessings!

  2. Thanks Nana! The faux Arby’s was pretty good. It is hard to top Arby’s, but I think I came pretty close to the original. The boys loved the fake fast food too, and there were plenty of leftovers too 🙂

  3. Thanks Ellie! The faux fast food was a big hit! The boy’s really liked the meal, and I really liked not having to make an hour round trip for Arby’s 😉

  4. Thanks Marva! Yep, I baked my fries. I like to bake whatever I can over frying them 🙂 The fries were delicious, and the Homemade Arby’s sandwiches were so good too.

  5. Thanks Heather! I have my sneaky moments. The boys really liked the meal, and I’ll definitely serve this on again 🙂

  6. Thanks Mimi! I hope that your family likes the at home Arby’s too. It was so tasty, and Thade was even asking when we are going to have the meal again 🙂 This one was definitely a hit 🙂

  7. Lookit how smart you are! Great job! We’ve started making fun meals on Friday night…Chinese food or burgers or pizza…instead of going out. Friday night was a real lazy night for me in the past lol. I was so tired of paying $50 and up for a meal out…how ridiculous!

Great price on the curly fries! The only place I can find them here is M&M Meatshop (do you have that there?) and it’s closer to $6 for a bag (eek) but it lasts 3 meals for my big kids, who won’t eat the delicious home-made stir fries. They don’t know what they’re missing. More for me and Scott lol.

  8. Thanks Susan! Your homemade fries sound really good 🙂 Save me some 😉 I love making homemade take-out, it really saves a lot. I am getting really frustrated with the expensive drive-thru prices. When we go to Wendy’s it is always over $20.00, and McDonald’s is almost $20.00, and the food isn’t even that good, and somehow my order gets messed up every time! Yeah, I’m a grumpy girl!

The M&M Meatshop sounds cool. Locally we have a Wal Mart Supercenter (where I do almost all of my shopping), a Wood’s (too pricey), and an IGA. About 30 minutes from here there is an Aldi that has great prices on everything. I like to shop there about once a month, although I might have to make that every two weeks soon.
