Last night before bedtime I asked Thade if he remembered what tomorrow was. He looked up and said “my Christmas party!” He was so excited, and he even fell asleep quickly, so he could wake up extra early to get ready for the day.
This morning both kids were up at 6:45 a.m., and Thade was already talking non-stop about his party, and how he couldn’t wait to go to school, and the 22 presents that he was going to get… Then I heard the phone ring. I knew it was James calling to make sure we were all up and ready, but then he said something else.
James: I don’t know if I heard this right on the radio, but it sounds like Thade’s school got cancelled.
Me: What, oh no, oh crap, Thade is going to be bummed.
James found the radio station number for me, and I gave them a call…
Me: Um, we missed the school cancellations on the radio this morning, I was calling to see if there were any?
Nice Radio Lady: Nope, unless your child goes to Preschool, that is the only one cancelled.
Me: Thanks for the help.
Nice Radio Lady: No problem, sorry that your school is out for the day.
Great, now to tell Thade, and trust me he was none too happy when I had to share the bad news. He is so sad now, he just stared out the window and said “it doesn’t look that bad.” I feel like the worst Mommy, but I had honestly believed that the party would be on for Wednesday.
Today is probably going to be a long day, but I am going to do my best to cheer Thade up, even if I don’t have 22 presents, and a room full of Christmas treats.

I hope Thade gets through his day, maybe a special Christmas movie to watch while Dylan sleeps. I took pics of the boys today for holiday cards- actually got Jake to wear the Santa hat. Too cute! Someone just told me Snapfish is having good deals on cards, otherwise I was headed out to CVS later in the week.

Thanks Ellie! I’ll pass along the big hugs to Thade. He was so bummed this morning, but we have made lots of homemade Christmas crafts today, to help keep his mind off of the party. He will miss school though, he is out until January.

Thanks Mimi! Thade was so bummed, but he got to have a friend come by for just a bit this morning, and he has cheered up a bit. Dad also took him out for special breakfast. I hope that you are doing well, and having a great day too 🙂
Thanks Shaunna! Thade was so disappointed, but he is a little happier this afternoon. We went to McDonald’s for breakfast, and we have been working on lots of fun Christmas crafts this afternoon 🙂 Sending big hugs your way too!
