Not Another One

Yesterday I was feeling pretty good. I got out for a walk, breezed through the dishes and laundry, I even cleaned windows in the afternoon. I had a little headache, but no big deal. By dinnertime, my little headache had grown into an evil migraine. By 8:30 p.m., my head hurt so bad, I didn’t even know what to do.

I got both kids off to bed, and I went and rested for a bit. It hurt too bad to lay down though, so I propped myself up in bed, and watched some t.v. James came in to check on me a few times, and at 10:30 p.m., I thought I should go and get ready for bed, it took me 5 minutes to walk into the bathroom, I was so dizzy, and I couldn’t move my head to the right. It was awful.

I really really really hate these migraines, and the seem to be getting worse. Today I’m still feeling sick, and I still have a headache. It isn’t as bad as the one that I had last night, but it is still with me. I’ve been researching a few options online, because I know something has to be done.

Do you have any helpful suggestions to help my aching noggin?

  1. Aw, so sorry you’re in pain again, Nicole. My friend had horrible migraines for years and finally got the right prescription…I’ll take a look at her blog this morning and get the name of it, maybe it can help you. Back in 5 minutes LOL.

  2. OK…it’s Topamax that she’s on. She’s tried a few and this one is really working for her. Hope that helps…my goodness, must be so awful to suffer through headaches like that 🙁 . Hope you’re feeling better soon.

  3. Thanks Susan! I’ll ask my Doctor about Topamax, I’m looking for anything that will help these awful headaches. I’ve tried 2 prescriptions in the past, but I had bad reactions to both. I’ve heard that there are shots available for migraines, but shots freak me out. Thanks again for the help, and big hugs to you!

  4. Awww Nicole……hope you are feeling better soon. I rarely get headaches so I can’t imagine how you feel…..the only thing I can think of is have you tried tracking what you eat for a week or two to see if you have any “triggers”……I’ve heard some people have certain foods that seem to trigger their migranes…..also, if meds don’t work, some people try accupuncture or chiropractic treatment…..(but those things aren’t always covered under insurance and could probably get pricey)……I hope you find something that can help you……sending you an extra big hug today 😉 Ellie

  5. Thanks Ellie! Keeping a food journal sounds like a great idea, and it would give my Doctor some extra information too. A trip to the Chiropractor would probably do me some good too, I seem to be lifting one of the boy’s all day 😉

Some of my migraines aren’t as bad as others, but last nights was miserable. James helped out a lot and kept a close eye on me. Thanks again and sending big hugs your way too.
