mommy now

I remember anxiously waiting for my little one to say” mommy”, he has been saying “daddy”since he was about seven months old. Finally almost two months before he turned two he said “mommy”, I was so happy, he finally acknowledges me. After he turned two he learned the phrase “mommy now”. At first I thought it was so cute, his first verbal demand that I could understand, and now it is a bit much. I sneak off to the bathroom , and he is banging down the door screaming “mommy now”. If I am in the kitchen doing dishes, or finishing making dinner, its “mommy now”. And if I ever get the opportunity to go grocery shopping, he is crying as I leave “mommy now”.

I know it is just a stage, and it is pretty cute. And it makes me very happy to hear him say mommy, even if it follows a demand. I’m just glad that he hasn’t discovered the phrase “I want that toy right now”.
