Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving break started last week on Wednesday. The cooking started on Sunday. I just couldn’t wait… I love Thanksgiving, and baking lots of yummy treats for the family.

The kids were quickly bored, but I kept busy the entire time. Starting on Sunday I baked banana bread, and got my lists organized. Monday I got to babysit my darling nieces! Tuesday I finished up the shopping, and started baking all of the rolls. Wednesday was pies,  desserts, casseroles, and my vegetarian dishes. Thursday was ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Thursday was the easiest day for me, I had so much already done, I got to hang out with my family a bit.

I did stick with my veggies! And I’m really proud of myself for it. I served the main Thanksgiving meal for lunch, and I put all of the non-veggie items, and family favorites on the buffet. I served all of the vegetarian items in the kitchen. It worked out pretty well.

It was an amazing Thanksgiving. We all had such a great time catching up, watching Football, and eating lots of tasty food. We even got to babysit one more time too.

Now that the kids are back in school, time to get the house back in order.

Around The House

This week I’m planning menus, making shopping lists, gathering recipes, folding laundry, washing dishes, and getting my timeline of Thanksgiving cooking together.

Today, while the kids are busy at school, I started cleaning upstairs. I changed the bedding in the boys room, swept up the hallway, and tidied up Agnes’ room too. Then I moved downstairs to take out the trash and start washing all of the dishes for Thanksgiving dinner.

I then started worrying about the state of the utility room, and all of those other rooms that nobody ever visits on Thanksgiving, and it got me thinking “the family isn’t visiting to critique my cleaning skills, they are here for the tasty food. ” After that I worried a little bit less about all of the cleaning tasks that I wouldn’t get accomplished. The ones that I do get done,  my kids will destroy them as soon as they are home from school, so there you go.

I’ve got to stress less this holiday season. What about you… Are you getting your home ready for Thanksgiving?

Crochet Crafts

My hand is almost all healed, so I’ve been cooking and crocheting. I’m happy to have a hook back in my hand.

I’ve been working on another scrappy blanket during the evenings. The weather is already cooling off, and this little blanket is extra warm.

Just in time for Christmas. I finished all eight of my gift blankets for our family. I am so happy to have this project completed.

I tried my hand at amigurumi for Miss Agnes.  At first this little animal was going to be a bunny, and then I thought a bear.

It ended up being a little cat named Mittens.

I’ve been making some scarves too. Some are for teacher gifts, some are for the kids since they have outgrown their other ones. I even made one for myself.

I’m also crocheting Christmas ornaments for Agnes’ class. They have a little gift exchange on the last day before Winter break.

The little wreaths are so cute. I might end up making some for Dylan’s class too.
