2015 New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year everyone!

It’s that time of year again. Time to post new year’s resolutions, and see if I can stick to them. Here are mine, and please feel free to share your resolutions too.

  • Read at least twenty books throughout the year (I read 19 in 2014)
  • Improve my housekeeping skills
  • Spend wisely, and save for two vacations
  • Use my free time wisely
  • Eat more fruits and veggies
  • Post at least five blog posts weekly

Maybe I should add, become a morning person. I’m not feeling too awake just yet…

Christmas Clean-Up

I think we have been cleaning every single day since Christmas day. I don’t know what it is about the holiday, but it always makes me want to deep clean the house, and get rid of clutter that has been creeping up on me.

I caught up the ten loads of Christmas laundry, and got the downstairs vacuumed, dusted, and swept. I would love to clean the boy’s room, but I think that task will have to wait until they are back at school.

As the new year is quickly approaching, I would like to tackle a few more cleaning tasks around the house. Here is what I have planned so far.

  • Clean out Agnes closet. Donate items, and purchase long term storage items
  • Clean out the boy’s room closet. Donate items, and purchase long term storage items. Dylan’s wardrobe has outgrown his dresser, so this needs to be addressed too. I either need to add another bar in the closet, or find another dresser to add to the boy’s room
  • Clean out the kitchen cabinets! Put unused items in storage for a yard sale when Spring finally rolls around
  • Clean out and organize my closet. The clothes are pared down and together, but the books are a mess. Time to tackle the built-ins, and tidy up the mess
  • Look for more storage for around the house… I would love to make a little “task/getting ready” area in the foyer, we could use more storage in all of the bedrooms too. Shelving in the kitchen would be much appreciated too
  • Clean out the Christmas decorations. As I am putting them away, it is time to get rid of some unused items. If they are in good shape, maybe I can store them to add to the yard sale items.

Of course there is the day to day cleaning to be kept up with. Since all of the kids are home, this task hasn’t been easy. The more I clean up, the more messes they seem to make. Oh goodness.

Hello Monday

James is back to work today, so it is just the kiddos and I at home today. We’ll be heading out in a bit to run to the grocery store, and to the post office too. I’ve got a lot of chores to tend to today, but I am feeling up and motivated to get to it.

I still need to take the Christmas decorations down, and store them away till the next year. So far I only have the kitchen decorations put away.  I haven’t taken the Christmas Tree down just yet, the lights are so lovely in the evening. I think that Agnes would leave her little tree up all year long, Christmas is her very favorite holiday. I guess that is another task to add to the list this week.

I’ve also been thinking of New Year’s resolutions… Have you been thinking of them too? I have a few goals in mind, and another stack of books to tackle.

I had better get to it. I hope the weather warms up a bit before we head out the door.

This Week

What a week. Family, Christmas, presents, cookies, and lots of cleaning.

I’m still tired from Christmas.

Today it is snowing, and I’ll be cleaning and catching up around the house. I’ve got a lot of laundry ahead of me, and I’ve almost caught up on all of the Christmas dishes.

I hope to sneak in a little crafting too.

Time to get back to it.
