Thursdays Are Rough

Nobody wanted to get up this morning, and Agnes was pretty mad at me when she found out she didn’t have preschool today. I don’t know what it is about Thursday, but it is always a challenging day over here. The boys were both so tired, and so was the Miss. I downed my coffee as quickly as I could, and got the kiddos (grumpily) off to school.

Tomorrow, I hope the morning goes a little smoother. It is almost the weekend, and Agnes is looking forward to her second day at preschool. I’ve been asked to help for a bit in the morning at preschool, Agnes has already told me not to embarrass her. I’ll try to be on my best-non-squishy-giant-hugging behavior. I think it will be a fun and busy morning. It will be nice to meet some of Agnes’ new friends too.

Sorry for the late post. I’ve been stuck cleaning grossness in the utility room, and doing lots and lots of laundry too. Here is to a lazy evening watching some Green Bay Packers football!

The First Day Of Preschool

I can’t believe this day has arrived. It is Agnes’ first day at preschool. She was so excited, and she couldn’t wait to get to school.

She was up early and ready to go. She had already picked out her outfit for today, and for Friday too.  She was a little nervous, but ready to go meet her teachers, and make some new friends too.

She is going to the same preschool that the boys went to, and I’ve already been asked to help out on Friday. It is such a fantastic school, and I know she will love it.

We took the boys to school, and Agnes happily went too. She was all smiles, and anxiously waited her turn. She said hi to her teachers, and ran right over to meet some of the kiddos. I went to give her a hug, and she game me a big hug back. I told her I would see her in a few hours and to have an amazing time.

She didn’t even shed a tear… Surprisingly, neither did I. I went to visit James at work, and the I headed home. James told me no chores, and to take the morning off and enjoy some much needed free time. It is strange though. This is my first time that I have been home without the kiddos in over ten years. It is quiet, but different… I really hope that her first day of preschool is fantastic. I can’t wait to hear all about it.

August’s Tasty Treats

August flew by in a hurry, and I was in the kitchen either washing dishes or making another meal. The kids all had a growing spell, and holy moly I couldn’t keep them full. I have lots of pictures to share, and I still have a lot of dishes to wash.

Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce is a quick and easy treat. We had just a little vanilla ice cream left, and the kids loved the Summer treat.

The breadmaker was busy too. Thade loves these Butter Rolls, I need to start making them in double batches.

James requested another RR Cherry Pie, it was delicious.

The kids aren’t a fan of fruit pies, so I made them a little Chocolate Snack cake.

Did I mention that RR Cherry Pie also makes for an awesome breakfast.

I picked up some more cherries today, so I can make another pie later this week.

I made a big batch of Pepperoni Pizza Rolls, they vanished in a flash. I’m going to have to start tripling this recipe to freeze for school lunches.

I’ve got the BBQ Wings recipe down, just in time for football season.

On August 24th, Miss Agnes declared that it was her favorite toy’s 44th birthday. We made him a Chocolate Bundt cake from scratch to celebrate. I’m pretty sure cheetah’s love chocolate cake.

I hadn’t made homemade pizza in such a long time. The kids have been on a pizza kick for a long time, so I thought it was time to make this recipe again.

I like mine with veggies. The kids prefer cheese or pepperoni.

I doubled the recipe, and made three large pizzas. I think next time, I’m going to have to quadruple it. The boys finished an entire large pizza between the two of them. I had just a few pieces to add to the freezer for quick school lunches.

Over Labor Day weekend everyone was home, and I decided that we were going to avoid the grocery store. We cleaned out the pantry, fridge, and freezer. I restocked this morning. I baked lots and lots of homemade goodies. I made a batch of Apple Cinnamon Muffins.

I also made a batch of Chocolate Chip Muffins.

The kids didn’t like the Apple Cinnamon ones, but the Chocolate Chip muffins disappeared in a hurry. I think I’ll make these again, and send them along for lunch-box treats. I’ll double the recipe though, twelve muffins just wasn’t enough for leftovers.

I’ve already made Chocolate Chip Cookies this month, and I’m hopefully making a double batch of Chex Mix later today. We’ve got the house stocked back up, so I had better get back to the kitchen.
