Quiet Craft

I stumbled across a lot of yarn at the recent yard sales. There were different varieties, and little bits here and there.

The multicolored yarn came with a story. A kind lady who likes to weave told me that she brought it back from Italy. It was hand dyed, and you could tell that she really loved it.

I decided to mix all of the colors together, and make a comfy blanket for the upcoming Winter months.

I used up my bits and odds and ends too. On Monday,  James had me pick up a little extra yarn to add to the blanket.

The messy blanket is coming along quickly. I love the quirky look of it. It is a little unique, but toasty and warm.

I need an extra day

I’m just going to say it… Weekends completely exhaust me. The kitchen is trashed, the laundry (that was caught up) has piled up, the pets need baths, the trash needs taken out (again), and all of the food is gone.

Happily, I welcome Monday morning. In fact I could use a few more of them. I got everyone to school, and headed to two different stores. I unloaded the mini-van, and got everything put away just in time to throw dinner in the crock pot, and make lunch. James picks up Agnes on preschool days, and she screams and tears through the house with whatever craft she made for the day.

I finished a few chores around the house, and got all of the paper goods put away and restocked upstairs. The afternoon flew by, and Agnes was really tired after preschool. I ended up making Pb & J’s and Biscoff & J’s for dinner. I’ll freeze the food in the crock pot, and maybe be a meal ahead or two.

Maybe I’ll do better tomorrow. This past weekend was a long one, and holy moly I am paying for it this week.

Thinking Ahead

With October just around the corner, I’ve been thinking of a few projects I would to get accomplished during the month.

  • Clean out the boys room, closet, dresser (again)
  • Clean out Agnes’ closet and toy bins (much needed)
  • Decorate indoors and outdoors. The new den could use some Halloween decor, and the front porch needs a little work to welcome Autumn.
  • Plan Agnes’ 5th birthday party, and get to shopping
  • Figure out what to get James for his birthday and our anniversary too…
  • I’m helping out with pre-school duties again, I can’t wait!
  • Locate and purchase yarn colors needed to complete Christmas gifts. I’m down to the last two gifts to make, and I’m losing steam.
  • The kids have a lot of time off in October, maybe a little road trip is in order.
  • Finalize Halloween costumes. Agnes has hers, Dylan has an idea, Thade’s costume had to be scrapped ($$$$$), so he is thinking on it.
  • A few indoor plants need to be re-potted, I picked up a great pot at the flea market yesterday for the task.
  • Clean out and reorganize the kitchen shelves, get rid of a few cluttered items

I’m sure that more items will get added to the list. What do you have on your To Do List for October?

City Wide Yard Sale

Last weekend was our town’s City Wide Yard Sale. We hit the sales early this year, and came home with some pretty cool finds.

We stopped of at a sale close to our home, and we found lots of dishes. I loved this little picnic basket. It ended up being full of yarn.

It had to come home with me. I found some more yarn at another sale on Saturday, so I decided to start a messy blanket for the living-room.

We spent a lot of time out at the sales on Saturday. We filled the mini van and only spent around $30.00, not too shabby.

We came home with lots of clothes, stuffed animals, dishes, Bundt pans, game pieces, holy moly the Summer daybed was packed.

We had a great time at the sales this year. We were way under budget, and we met a lot of cool people around town too. Now I just need to clean out the kids closets, and have one of my own.
