Simple Saturday: Outdoor Tablecloth

I haven’t done one of these d.i.y Simple Saturday posts in a very long time.

0113

Miss Agnes and I were out browsing the fabric aisle the other evening, and the sewing bug bit me.

I decided to go through my remnants at home, and see if I had fabric big enough to sew a small tablecloth.

0028

I spotted a decent sized floral square of fabric, and it looked like it might do the trick.

It was too warm for the kids to play outside,

0018

so I set them up with a movie in the living-room.

I started to get to work.

0048

I haven’t sewed in quite awhile, so I was a bit rusty.

0067

The littlest ones came in about every two minutes to ask a question, and see why I wasn’t finished yet…

0074

I finished up the last of the decorative stitches, and I took the tablecloth outside.

We have a small table and chairs set on the side-porch, and I would love to spray-paint them. I haven’t gotten around to that project though…

0114

I’m really pleased with the new tablecloth, so the spray-paint project just might get scrapped for the Summer.

0128

Lastly, I added a few Mason jars filled with river rocks to hold the tablecloth in place. It is a little windy (all the time) here in KS, and I also didn’t want the little pup destroying the new tablecloth. I’m going to add in a few tea-lights to the jars, and illuminate them at night when we’re sitting out on the porch. It was a Simple Saturday project, and cost effective too. I had all of the supplies on hand, I just had to do a little searching.

Wednesday Night: Date Night

Wednesday my Mother in law was visiting, so I asked her if she wouldn’t mind watching the kids for a bit. She said sure, and James and I got to go out to dinner. Just the two of us.

0095

We headed to one of our favorite places.

0103

We had a delicious meal, and enjoyed the quiet.

0112

We decided to head downtown and check out a bookstore.

0135

0282

029

I found way too many books!

0143

023

027

The “Cooky Book” had to be mine!

0175

I love it, cookies from the 60’s!

0183

I opened up the pages and out popped three hand-written recipes.

Great finds and what a fantastic date night too!

Yesterday…

Yesterday the weather did this…

0047

It was way too warm, and the littlest ones did this…

0039

Thade enjoyed the quiet and played the playstation.

I finished this,

0017

and read five chapters into this one.

030

So good.

Today we’ve been out once,

0471

It is already miserably hot out, so the kids didn’t want to stay out too long…

We came back in, and I gave this little gal a bath.

0127

Hopefully she’ll stay a bit cooler. The cat has already parked himself in front of an air-conditioning vent, so he is set.

The kids are already grumpy, and really bored with the indoors. Come on rain storm, we need this heat-wave out of here.

Heat-Wave

Summer has just begun and today marks the first excessive heat-wave warning of the season. We are under heat warnings through Saturday. You know what that means…

0134

Less time out here,

0027

more time in here.

It is going to be a long and hot week. Stay safe and cool in this heat-wave.

On Friday Something Awesome Happened

Last week my Mother in law said that she had a surprise for the kiddos, but she needed our o.k. first. She convinced us both, and on Friday she brought the surprise!

0073

They prepped the ground, and worked way too hard in the Summer sun.

0126

Have you figured out what the surprise is yet?

0163

This might help a little.

0174

It is a Pool!!!!!

The boys were beyond excited, and we were too. The little guys even helped out a bit with the set-up.

0182

James came home from work, and helped out too.

0193

The new pool was ready to be filled by the evening. We finished the rest of the task on Saturday, and had a blast swimming!

0111

I still can’t believe that she did that for us. It is so amazing, and the kids love swimming! So if I don’t get anything done this Summer you know why, I’ll have a pretty decent tan though.
