Short Sleeves and Warmer Temps

The weather is so weird around here. Last Friday we had warm weather in the 70’s and then on Monday it snowed… Today it is in the 50’s and that is fine with me. I do love the cool but friendly Spring temps.

We had lunch with James today, and this afternoon I’m off  to Thade’s Parent Teacher conference. I must admit that I always get  a little nervous when I have to go to them, even though my big kid is super great. I am anxious to see what level he is reading at, and to see his grade card too. Thade  just finished his 76th book for Ready Set Read, so that is super cool. School always weirded me out as a kid, and I guess it has carried over into adulthood. Hopefully all will be well though.

The afternoon has gotten away from me today, but almost all of the errands have been run, and the laundry is caught back up. Better get to it. Hope everyone is having a fantastic day.

Happy Pi Day

Happy Pi Day everyone! That’s right it’s 3.14, and that means there are pies to be made. Today I’m making some goodies for a cookie catering gig for tomorrow. I’ve included 2 batches of mini pies for Pi day. I’ve made up a big batch of mini Cherry Pies, and the Mini Dutch Apple pies are in the oven, as I’m typing.

Since the little ones aren’t ready for a photo just yet, I’ll share some of my favorite pies that I’ve made.

This one was for my brother’s birthday. It’s a Peach Pie.

Oh yeah! Practice Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving, with homemade whipped cream. Yum!

Lastly Tiny Blueberry Pie! These were so good, and now I am in love with making tiny pies.

So please share. What is your very favorite kind of Pie? I prefer Apricot, or a super tasty Key Lime Pie. Now I had better get back to the kitchen and take the minis out of the oven.

Grocery Shopping x 3

To be perfectly honest, I really don’t like grocery shopping. I get grumpy with our local shops, and the prices, and the fact that whenever I take all 3 of my kiddos someone has to stop and say “wow, you’ve really got your hands full”. Grumpiness aside, the shopping must be done, and usually it’s a weekly event.

We needed a day away, let me rephrase that, I needed a day away, so I decided to take the kiddos grocery shopping a town away.  Oddly enough the trip was actually fun. The prices were better, the shelves were well stocked, and they had the raddest shopping carts ever! Also, not one single person stopped me mid-shopping trip and said the dreaded phrase.

The kids were really good too. The boys loved riding in the shopping cart, and Agnes stayed happy, because she had the guys to entertain her. It was strange leaving the store with everything on my list, and no giant headache.

When it was all said and done, Dylan was sad to leave the shopping cart. I asked him why he was so sad, he said “Mama, that shopping cart is going to miss us.” Looks like I found a better way to get the grocery shopping task done.

Music Camp

0141

Thade has been a busy little guy.

Last weekend he attended a music camp for the day, and had a blast. He learned so much, and we had fun seeing the sights around campus too.

Dylan and Agnes were happy to tag along too.

Full Friday

I know it’s Thursday, but I’m actually looking forward to Friday. There is an elementary planning day tomorrow, and I’ll have all of my kiddos home, and we’ve got a busy day planned.

My guys will be up early anyway, so I’m planning on taking them to the Donut shop for donuts and chocolate milk, while Agnes is napping we are going to vote for the nickelodeon kid’s choice awards, Thade can’t wait. I’m thinking about taking the kiddos to the Lenten Fish Fry that is just down the street for lunch tomorrow, I thought that might be a cool outing. We are also visiting the Library, I’ve been here 6 years, and I’m just now getting around to finally getting a library card (bad nico).

Thade is really busy reading so many books for Ready Set Read, and I thought that hitting up the library will get him to his goal of 100 books. He just completed his 60th book, and his original goal was 50. I’m so proud of my big kid!

If the weather (and Agnes) are cooperating, we might go and tour the Fort. The weather is supposed to be in the 70’s tomorrow, and an afternoon out and about downtown might be fun.

So what about you? Do you have any big plans for a fun Friday, or for fun-filled weekend?
