Blueberries and Strawberry Milk

0012

While I was making a shopping list Thade asked if we could buy Strawberry Milk and Blueberries. Here is how the conversation went down…

Thade: Mom can we please buy blueberries and strawberry milk?

Mom: Thade, do you even like strawberry milk and blueberries?

Thade: I love them, I had them at school.

Mom: Really?!?

Thade: Yep, they are delicious, I promise I will eat them…

Mom: (thinking it over and realizing that Thade NEVER asks for fruit, so it might be a good idea) O.k. we’ll add them to the list.

Thade: Yay!

Then we went shopping, and I came home and made a delicious snack for the kids which included Strawberry Milk, Blueberries, and Bananas. Here is the result:

Thade: (popped a blueberry in his mouth) I don’t like blueberries!

Dylan: (also popped a blueberry in his mouth, and then spit it out quickly) Eeewwww yucky! I don’t like them, but I’ll squish them on my plate.

So this was a big blueberry FAIL! What to do with all of the leftover blueberries though…

005

I tried sneaking them into homemade blueberry muffins, but still this one was also a  miss. I like them, but none of the guys liked them one bit.

0071

Yesterday I whipped up a batch of Strawberry-Banana-Blueberry Ice-Pops for the kiddos, and I’m going to see if they like the berries better in frozen form. We’ll see if they like them or not… I guess it is good that I didn’t invest in a berry patch for the backyard.

Leaving Paradise

Writing this post is making me sad…

Before we knew it, our Hawaiian vacation had come to an end. It was day five, and it was time to pack our bags, and head on back to the main land.

004

We grabbed breakfast with an ocean view at the Tropics.

0142

I ventured out onto the balcony to breathe in the fresh ocean air, and take photos of the Harbor.

0221

We checked out on time, but we had several hours before it was time to catch our flight home.

023

We walked all around the complex, and grabbed lunch with friends that we made on the trip.

0311

The weather had finally warmed up on the day that we were headed home, and there was hardly a cloud in the sky.

033

I must have taken over 150 photos. I wanted to capture those last few moments on the island, and hold on to them forever.

034

One last photo of our hotel home for the week…

051

One last walk through the park that we loved…

064

One last tropical palm tree that I only wish would grow in my backyard too.

094

We only had about an hour left, so we walked for the final time out to the Ocean. I’ll close my eyes, and I can still see the clear blue waters…

123

I snapped a few final pictures, and we bid farewell to a beautiful adventure in Hawaii…

124

How I wish we could have stayed, just one more day…

140

James was ready to head back home, but I wasn’t ready to say good-bye to Hawaii just yet.

143

We took the long bus ride to the airport, and we got ourselves ready for the long flight home. There was one last rain shower on the Island, and a beautiful rainbow to wish us well on our flight home…

145

I’m sure there will be a few more picture posts from Hawaii.

Teething Time

0031

Guess what has been making me grumpy?

0041

That’s right, I got my first tooth this week!

Time to go and get more tasty bananas, and then keep my mom from sleeping…

Packing For The Long Trip Home…

It was day 4 of our Hawaiian vacation, and this one was a little tough for me. I wasn’t ready to go home just yet…

0011

We had the day free to hang out and run around the beach. I liked watching the large barge ships slowly make their way to the shore bringing  supplies to the island.

002

The clouds looked amazing from the balcony… The fluffy clouds completely covered the mountain tops.

0101

I tried to gather all of our belongings for the long flight home, but it just bummed me out. We decided to grab some breakfast and go for a walk on the beach.

0141

We passed the pink flamingos that were residents of the hotel. It was a little too early for them to be social.

016

The penguins were wide awake and playing though… They stay at the hotel too, and they were super-cute.

0211

We visited one of our favorite spots to grab breakfast… It was a Honolulu hot spot called the Tropics. If you were a bit patient you could get a table outside with an amazing view of the ocean. There were little birds and lizards that would run around too, and try to get you to feed them. The food was amazing too.

029

After breakfast we wandered further down the beach and found a cool park to visit. We made a plan that when lunch time rolled around, we would head back to the park for a picnic.

0351

The afternoon was passing too quickly, and it was time to do some serious packing for the next day…

044

The vacation isn’t over just yet… Stay tuned for more.
