Adventures In Price Matching

This week I gave price matching another go, and this time I got a lady that wasn’t too happy about me price matching. Oh well, I was really after the savings, so I wasn’t taking her grumbles, and I made sure to tell her thanks for taking the extra time to save me some money. I only had three items to price match, and I saved $3.42! Well worth the dirty look… Hopefully I can find some god deals next week too.

Keeping Busy In The Kitchen

009

I finally made up my mind on what to make for the MOPS Spa Night, and I’ve been busy in the kitchen all morning. The Little Miss and Dylan were there to help me out too. So far I’ve got the Raspberry Balls chilling  in the fridge, and waiting for a drizzle of White Chocolate. I’m half-way through baking Mini-Red Velvet cupcakes that I will frost tomorrow. I’ve got lunch to make too, so I had better get back to it.

Price Matching

013

I’m trying my best in 2010 to make the most out of the grocery budget, and that means price matching. Last week I tested the price matching waters, and I had a cashier that was happy to price match. It saved me $3.45 on the grocery bill too.

This week I’m giving it another go, and trying to stock up on groceries for the next two weeks, that means a lot of price matching and hopefully some good grocery savings too.

Some tips that help me peacefully price match are:

  1. Come prepared, have your list made, and bring a pen to jot down the savings as you shop.
  2. Make sure and have your ads with you, and have the items that you would like to price match circled.
  3. Shop when it isn’t too busy, and smile when you get to the check-out.
  4. I warn the cashier ahead of time that I have items that need price matching, and coupons too.
  5. I like to separate the price matched items in the cart, and let those items go on the conveyor belt last.
  6. Don’t forget to say thanks, a little “thank you” goes a long way.

I have run the kitchen out of everything again, time to get to the store, and rack up some savings.
