Well the Kids are Better

Thade was feeling pretty good this morning, and ready to go back to school. I had a MOPS meeting to go to this morning, and Dylan wasn’t really in the mood to go. This was probably the morning that he would have slept in, if I would have let him. I was glad that we went though, the meeting was fun, and the breakfast was tasty.

When I went to pick up Thade at school his teacher sent home the Firefighter handouts from Wednesday. There were stickers, pencils, and even a Firefighter helmet for Thade. She even sent one home for Dylan so he could play Firefighter too.

I was feeling good this morning, but this afternoon I’ve kinda bottomed out, and I’m starting to feel wonky again. I’m almost caught up on all of the dishes though, so I’m pretty happy about that. I’m trying to take it easy, but the house has gotten away from me with this cold, at least the kiddos are feeling much better.

Pudding Cups and Ice Pops

Snacks are a must have in our house, and I’m always trying to save a bit on family favorite treats. I spotted an Popsicle Mold at the store for $2.00, and I thought it would be great to make some Pudding Pops for Thade.

My Popsicle mold made 4 Pudding-pops, so I was left with a lot of leftover pudding… But none of it went to waste.

I filled my Silicone Baking Cups with the leftover pudding, and made individual pudding cups. They were just as tasty as the store bought individual cups, but we can reuse our cups, so there was no packaging waste. I stored the homemade cups in the fridge in Gladware. The kiddos loved the tasty treats too.

What homemade snacks or treats do you like to make for your family?

Another Day of Ickiness

Today was Firefighter day at Preschool, and Thade couldn’t wait to go! He still had a little cough, but he really wanted to be at school to meet Sparky the Dalmatian, a local Firefighter, and tour a Firetruck, but the day fell short. About 20 minutes after I dropped him off at school I received a phone call from his teacher that Thade was sick, and I needed to come and get him, quickly. Poor little Thade was in tears when I picked him up from school, he was so sad that he would be missing out on Firefighter Day.

You’ve probably already guessed it, we all have the Cold/Flu again, and this time it has gotten all of us. James was home so sick yesterday, and Dylan was in the beginning stages of coming down with the Cold/Flu. Today the Flu found me once more, and I’m miserable once again.

This afternoon I put Dylan for his nap, and I hoped that maybe he would take a nice long nap, so I could rest a little too. Thade is still a little on the wonky side, so he was happy to crash out on the big comfy chair with Mommy. I think I napped for about 2 hours, and I woke up just in time.

At 3:00 p.m., Thade heard a knock at the door, and then he started hopping around yelling “Shaunna’s here, Shaunna’s here!”

Our dear friend Shaunna, had dropped by to bring us Brownies, Fruit Juices, a very sweet  get well card, and a book for me to borrow. She is just too sweet, I really appreciate all of the treats, and Thade was super happy to see tasty homemade brownies.

Somehow she knew that Dylan was in need of Apple Juice (his favorite) and the Orange Juice really helped my sore throat. Thanks again Shaunna, we love you!

So tonight we are going to take it easy, and I’m hoping to call it an early evening. I already have dinner made, thanks to the freezer, and Hot Vegetable Soup is calling my name. I’m ready to go jump in bed and watch the Season Finale of Project Runway, and get some rest.

Me and the Leaves

This Fall I’m trying to do a better job at keeping up with the yard. We have 2 large trees that love to throw their big leaves all over the place, so I have made it my mission to get out there and rake up those leaves every weekend.

I was doing pretty good about the extra chore, and I have been raking 2 bags a week. This last weekend the weather was perfect, and the kids were cooperating and playing happily outside while I raked. I finished the task in record time, and had the leaves all bagged up before the weather turned cold and rainy. I was pretty proud of my yard work accomplishment.

Later that night I felt a sharp pain in my leg, weird. I took a look, and evidently I raked up some little Spider’s home, because he left me a bite to show me just how mad he was at me for doing so. Great… So let’s just say that this bite swelled up to about the size of a half dollar, and still stings like crazy, so not cool.

After last night’s rains, the leaves are all back this morning. If the weather improves by the weekend, I’ll make sure and rake a little more cautiously, I do sincerely apologize for raking up the spider’s home.
