How Have the Gas Prices Changed You? Nico is Grumpy

I really need to stop watching the news, and reading all of the articles about the rising gas prices. The most recent gas price increase really has me worried. I’m wondering if you have had to cut back expenses to help with the rise in fuel costs?

In a distant past when Nico was just nineteen I can remember filling up my car for a mere $10.00! Last week I purchased a half of a tank of gas and paid $27.50, so if I was completely empty it would have taken  $55.00 to fill my car : (  I drive a gas friendly Impala, this is just crazy.

The gas prices have really changed the way that I think about my driving. I look at the cost of the trip first, and then justify the trip. I don’t like doing that, I miss the days where I could just go and have fun, and not worry.

A trip to the store out of town used to be no big deal, I would make the 20 minute drive, and come back home, but when gas hit $3.15, that trip became a big deal. I can’t justify spending almost $7.00 in gas for one trip to the grocery store.

All of my family lives out of state too, anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half away, that makes those little trips about $30.00 + in gas. Which makes me mad, I used to take off and visit my Mom for the day, and now those trips have become very limited, sorry Mom, and sorry to my Brother too…

Also taking the baby out for an evening drive to soothe those teething troubles hasn’t happened. Yes Dylan has teething pain, and he gets pretty grumpy, but that nice long drive has become a thing of the past, it just takes too much gas.

I don’t want to be completely negative about the situation, but the rising prices seem to have an effect on everything. I’m dreading the trip to the grocery store today, I know I’ll see higher prices on the basics now that Diesel has hit $3.76.

So feel free to gripe, and let out all of those high gas price angers… Let me know how you are doing with all of the increases.

Get it Done Monday

Monday is my catch up day. I get caught up with the dishes, laundry, and get to the grocery store too. I have a lot to get done today, and I got a bit of a late start too. Here is the plan for today:

  • Wash all the dirty dishes
  • Clean the litter-box
  • Grocery shop at Wal-Mart, and Walgreens
  • Wash at least 2 loads of laundry
  • Empty the Upstairs Trash Cans
  • Empty the Downstairs Trash Cans
  • Take out the Trash
  • Bake Banana Muffins

We’ll see how today goes, it looks like it is going to be another busy Monday.

I May Never Drive Again

Thade and I ran to Walgreens today to pick up their awesome soda sale, and to grab lunch too. We were heading home when I drove past the gas station and read that Unleaded Gas is now up to $3.19!!!! Diesel was listed at $3.79, ouch. I can’t believe just how high the prices have gotten. It is getting scary!

How are the gas prices in your neighborhood?

All Day Cooking

I think I’ve spent the entire day in the kitchen, and covered in flour too;) I baked a yummy Peach Pie (from scratch), and I also made Homemade Noodles, for Turkey and Noodles. I ended up mashing about 5 pounds of potatoes, I’ll freeze the extras for future meals, and then I needed to clean up the giant mess. I looked at the clock and I noticed that it read 7:30 p.m., and I thought to myself, just 12 hours until breakfast…

I decided that I had better come up with a plan for tomorrow’s breakfast, and I’m planning on making a Puffy Oven Pancake. It is a quick and easy breakfast, I’m hungry all ready. I think that once the kiddos are off to sleep, I’ll sneak downstairs for just one more piece of Peach Pie.

Don’t forget to change those clocks at 2:00 a.m., if you’re up that late 😉 Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
