Today the heat index is going to be up around 105 F, that is just too hot. I took the boys out early this morning to try and beat the heat. By 9:00 a.m. it was already 85 F. We got to the store at 10:00 a.m. and by the time that we were finished it was 90 F. I hate getting the kids out in this kind of weather, but it has to be done. I plan ahead to keep them cool and comfortable for the trip.
- I make sure and dress the boys in light colored clothing.
- I pack a sippy cup of cool water for Thade.
- I feed Dylan before and after we get home from the store to keep him hydrated.
- I try to time my shopping trip for the coolest part of the day.
- I keep the boys sitting in the shopping cart while I’m loading up the purchases. I do not want them sitting in the car even for a minute.
- I park close to the cart return, so I don’t have to carry the boys too far.
- When the weather gets too hot, I limit my shopping to just one store.
What are extra steps that you take to beat the Summer heat, but still get those errands finished?
