Where I Spent My Saturday

Got a day away with my hubby!

Occasionally mommy-guilt will kick in, and I feel bad that we don’t take many vacations… I have kids that love to go places, but not necessarily travel, and then there is me with a gigantic fear of flying, so that is a mess all together. Just because we don’t travel far doesn’t mean that we are lacking in family memories.

Take the time to make every outing a mini-vacation. I like to treat the kids to a special treat while waiting for Dad at the airport, or try a new restaurant on the drive back home.

Day vacations are one of my very favorites. You travel just long enough for the kids to get tired of being in the car, but you get far enough away from home that you miss it.

Keep an eye out for local events to take the kiddos too. Many of them won’t cost you a penny, and the kiddos have fun too.

Don’t forget to keep your camera ready to get all of those memory making photos too. I keep mine in the diaper bag (with extra batteries) at all times.

Let’s be honest though… Getting the kiddos to school on time is an adventure all by itself. I won’t even mention taking a toddler grocery shopping, that is another adventure.

Going To Nana’s
Yesterday the kiddos and I headed to Nana’s house to spend the day with her. James got a day off, and enjoyed some much needed peace and quiet. The kiddos and I had a blast though, we shopped all day, had lunch at Ryan’s and even saw a local band play at the library.

We all had so much fun at Nana’s, we can’t wait to visit again!

Last Weekend

Last weekend we went to the Good Ol’ Days…

We had a great time at the festival. We took a Trolley Ride, and it was really fun. We walked around downtown for a little bit, and stopped off to watch the Dock Dogs show.

The boy’s enjoyed a tasty Cherry Sno-Cone, and James treated us all to a yummy lunch too. I had roasted corn, too good.

I had a super yummy Giant Lemonade!

I also got really sunburned too…
Sunburn aside the Good Ol’ Days were really fun. We all agreed that the Trolley Ride was the best part though. While riding the Trolley we learned a lot about our town, and we got to hear all about the old homes and structures, many were from the 1890’s. The kids enjoyed the ride too, and it was nice and breezy on the Trolley.
We also liked that they waved the entrance fee into the Good Ol’ Days this year, I hope that this tradition will carry into the next year too. It looks like there was a great turn-out too.
