Snack Day

December 3rd, 2008

Today Thade and I were in charge of bringing snacks for Preschool. Yesterday we were busy in the kitchen getting all of the treats ready. Thade helped out with the veggies, but I had a little problem with the mini muffins. I accidentally burned my first batch, so I ended up making regular sized muffins, and cutting them in half for the kiddos. I think the treats went over pretty well today at Preschool, even though Thade said that he didn’t like the muffins…

Snacks in a Hurry

December 1st, 2008

I got a little Christmas Shopping done this morning while Thade was at school. When Dylan and I went to pick up Thade, I heard the teacher say that there were lots of handouts today. There were three book orders due back on Wednesday, and then I spotted the snack list for December in Thade’s backpack. I looked over it, and I’m bringing snacks for December 3rd.

What the heck am I going to bring… It has to be healthy, and it has to be what I’ve got on hand too. I picked up Carrots and Celery the last time that we went to the store, so I can make veggie sticks for the kiddos, but there needs to be something else. I think I’m going to make a batch of Oatmeal muffins, and make them mini for the kiddos. I think I’ve got an extra Apple Juice in the pantry, so I hope I’m good to go!

I Have To Buy What Now…

November 24th, 2008

I was picking up Thade from preschool today, and the kiddos all sounded so excited. Today they were having a Thanksgiving Party, and Thade couldn’t wait. As the class was winding down, I overheard the teacher say to make sure and have your parent’s check your backpacks for some important handouts, then I heard the words I was dreading to hear…

Teacher: Now we are going to talk about our Christmas Party!

Nico (thinking) :Oh, goodness.

Teacher: I’m sending home handouts that explain our party, and what date it will be on.

Nico (thinking): Cool, now Thade will be talking about this party 24 hours a day for the next month, but at least I have a little warning.

Teacher: Don’t forget to remind Mom that while she is out shopping this weekend, to pick up 22 presents for the Christmas Party. We will each be giving a present to all of the kids in the class, so make sure and tell her that.

Nico (thinking): Oh crap!

So now I have to come up with 22 gender neutral non-sugar presents for 22 four year-old boys and girls. Oh yeah and 4 teacher presents too. Yeah, I’m already sick of holiday shopping and it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet…
