I hand wash all of the dishes, and on Mondays I like to swap out the old dish sponge for a new one. I don’t toss the old one out, just yet. I keep a cute container under the kitchen sink filled with old wash cloths and dish sponges that can be used again to clean up around the house.

The wash cloths are perfect for dusting, cleaning electronics, and scrubbing windows. The old sponges are great for cleaning around the toilet, scrubbing down the shower, or tackling any other icky cleaning jobs that I have to do.

This is a new series on my blog where I find a new and different use for a common item in the home. Today I’m using my Melon Baller as a cookie scoop.

I send about 3 dozen cookies to my husband’s workplace every Friday. The cookies are homemade, but I want them to look fairly uniform. The melon baller does the job beautifully. I can easily place 16 cookies on one air bake cookie sheet, so my time baking in the kitchen is quick too. I have plenty of bite sized cookies to share with the co-workers, and still have a few for my boys at home. Now I’m off to find a big glass of milk ;)
