Strange Tales from the Garden
The last few weeks I have been harvesting all things green from the garden. I had a few small cucumbers to pick, and I finally had one zucchini too. The green beans went from a few here and there to me harvesting handfuls every other day! I even have 5-6 cantaloupes that are still growing, I just hope that they get enough sunlight and ripen soon.
But something is a miss in the garden… Yesterday I noticed these while I was watering.
Aaah!!! Giant Grasshoppers have invaded my garden!
Yesterday I decided to pick whatever Green Beans looked ready to pick, just in case the Grasshoppers liked Green Beans, and the strangest thing happened… I was bending down grabbing a green bean when one of the Grasshoppers Jumped up and hit me in the left eye. It stung, but I had to laugh. Only I could manage to get injured by a Grasshopper. Next time I’ll be a little more careful while I’m picking veggies.

Easy Peasy Peach Crumble
My quest continues to find the perfect quick and easy dessert that my whole family will love. This time I’m making homemade Peach Crumble. I found a great recipe for the Peach Crumble, and I’ve altered it just a bit. The recipe is very simple and calls for Canned Peaches, Brown Sugar, Flour, Cinnamon, and Butter. Yep, you read that right, just five ingredients.
I added a little extra Brown Sugar and Cinnamon to the Canned Peaches, and they were so tasty. This was one fast recipe, but only Dylan and I were fans of the Crumble. James and Thade just aren’t Peach fans, oh well…
I thought that this recipe could also be made with any Fruit Pie Filling that is your favorite, and the Crumble topping would be great with just a little Oatmeal added in. I think I might have to give a Cherry Crumble or Apricot Crumble a try, with a big scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream on top too. Maybe even Apple, or Blueberry, or Blackberry, o.k. time to get to the store, I’m ready for DESSERT!

Walking the Recycling
My boys love to go for walks. If I even say the word “go” Dylan will run and grab his shoes and stand by the front door. Yesterday I thought it would be fun to walk to the Post Office, and drop off our recycling along the way. Just a few blocks away we found a place where you can drop off aluminum cans to benefit a local charity.

I loaded up the stroller with two bags of aluminum, and we started on our walk. We walked to the drop off, and the nicest lady hollered to us “Thank you for recycling with us”, Thade felt proud that he was doing something nice for the environment. We made our way to the Post Office, and we spotted a few more cans on the trip. I picked them up, and we would make one more stop to recycle them on the way home.
When we went back Terry (recycling lady) was outside so we introduced ourselves, and Thade handed her the found cans. He was proud of the extra cans that he found on the walk. I hope that this will become a weekly tradition for us, it is a great walk for Thade, and a great way to help the Planet (just a bit) too.
