Keep the Doors Locked

May 27th, 2008

My goodness this has been one strange and scary afternoon. I was sitting in the living room hanging out with the boys and I could hear someone screaming outside. School is out for the Summer and I thought it might be one of the kids across the street, but it wasn’t… It was a lady standing in out front yard screaming and clapping her hands as if she might be looking for a lost dog.

I could hear getting louder and louder, so I peaked out the window and I saw her put her hands to her face, and right away I knew something was very wrong. I went to check that all of the doors were locked, and then I kept the boys very quiet in the living room. I then heard a loud “whack” on the storm door, and I grabbed both boys and headed to the kitchen.

I got both boys settled in the kitchen, and I quietly walked to the front door, peeled back the curtain, and I saw her foot. She was sitting on my front porch, shaking. I went back into the kitchen and called my hubby, and then I called the Police. I called James back on my cell phone, and I waited for the Police to arrive.

The Police made it to our house quickly,  and thank goodness! They stopped the lady just as she was trying to cross the street, and they talked to her for quite awhile. I have no idea what she was up to, but I am grateful that we are all safe and sound. I’m still a little shaken up and worried, I felt a little helpless this afternoon. Such a strange day…

Long Weekend

May 27th, 2008

I hope that everyone had a happy and safe Memorial Day :) We enjoyed a nice long weekend, and a little BBQ yesterday. The weather wasn’t cooperating at all, and it rained all day, so I decided to have a little cook-out indoors.

We had hamburgers, hot dogs, chips & dip, corn & cucumber salad, fruit salad, and vanilla cupcakes too. I served the salads in Glad Ware, just like a picnic. It was fun to have the BBQ indoors, and both of the boys were thrilled with the cupcakes ;)

Our Trip To Grandma’s

May 26th, 2008

Yesterday was my Mother in laws birthday, and I was planning on taking the boy’s to visit her. She had a few places in mind to take the boys, and I had a few errands to run while I was in town too. We both decided to meet at Payless Shoes and do a little shopping. Thade found a pair of Transformers tennis shoes, and I picked up a pair of Summer shoes for Dylan. It was buy one get one half off after all ;)

After the shoe shopping it was getting pretty close to lunchtime and both boys were hungry. The birthday girl suggested Chili’s and that sounded great to me too. We ordered Chips and Salsa to munch on while we waited for lunch, and Thade happily colored on his kids menu munching away on chips. Lunch gave us plenty of time to catch up on all of the gossip, and I ate way too much tasty Margarita Chicken :)

We then headed to Grandma’s house, so I could change Dylan and get Thade ready to go to the park. Thade was so anxious to get to the park, he just couldn’t wait. Grandma had a great plan to head over to Lincoln Park and visit Kiddieland, a mini-amusement park just for kids.

We were all excited to go and visit, this was my first time there too. Grandma got a few tickets for Thade and we were ready to go and have fun!

Thade was a little nervous at first, it was his first trip to an amusement park, and he wasn’t too sure about the rides. He got a little bit of courage (and a Ring Pop) and he was ready to ride the boats. After the boats, he was ready to ride every single ride in the park :)

The park even has a Train that you can ride, and it was Dylan’s favorite. It is a small train that takes you all around the park, and it was so much fun we rode it twice :)

Dylan had so much fun riding the train, and waving at everybody as we went by. Thade thought the train was a little loud…

We all had a great time at the park and Thade is ready to go back and visit again soon. Kiddieland even has a Roller Coaster and a Small Ferris Wheel to ride too!

It was a fun trip to Grandma’s, and I think that she had a great time too :)

Going To Grandma’s

May 25th, 2008

Today I’m taking the boys to Grandma’s :) It is her birthday, and we are all going out to lunch to celebrate. I have so much to do this morning. It looks like it is going to be a fun day, as long as the weather holds out. Here is the plan for this morning:

  • Put the car seats into hubby’s car, stroller, and toys too. My car is acting up, and I don’t want to take it too far…
  • Have Thade help finish the Birthday Cupcakes
  • Pack all of the extra necessities, and meals for Dylan
  • Get gas in hubby’s car
  • Hopefully leave the house by 10:30 a.m. ;)

It looks like it is going to be a busy day around here, and I’ve got a migraine to boot. I woke up this morning at 2:30 a.m. with the evil headache, and I finally got up officially at 6:40 a.m. to take some much needed medicine. I just hope that it kicks in soon, my noggin hurts so much today…
