Bumbo Recall !?!

October 26th, 2007

Well this one got me fired up this morning. Usually I wouldn’t write such a grumpy post, but this one got me more than a little mad. My hubby came in and asked if I saw the news, because they are recalling the Bumbo seat. I missed the story at 6:oo a.m. but I stayed glued to the t.v. waiting for the story to cycle through again, while James got busy researching the recall on the web.

About 6:45 a.m. here come the recalls: yet again more Fisher-Price toys, and yes my beloved Bumbo seat. The Bumbo recall was due to injuries from falls from a raised surface, such as a KITCHEN COUNTER TOP or KITCHEN TABLE! The stock film on the news even showed a lady placing the Bumbo seat on a granite kitchen counter top (there was no child in the seat), it is one of those moments when you have to say DUH! Why on Earth would you ever set your baby on a KITCHEN TABLE or COUNTER TOP in any seat is beyond me. I think this one really comes down to common sense, let’s use some when it comes to our children’s safety.

Even the Bumbo box states : WARNING, do not place on a raised surface. Designed for floor level use only, do not leave your child unattended.

Bumbo has updated their website with the warnings and downloads are available for further information. Make sure and check out www.bumbosafety.com for all the information on the recent recall.

My seat is safely on the living room FLOOR, and my little one is always under Mommy’s watchful eye. What will be recalled next Potty Chairs, Boppy’s, and Binky’s? Let me know what you think about the recent recalls… Are you as grumpy as me?

Family Favorite Play-Doh

October 25th, 2007

At our last grocery trip, I invested in a 4 pack of Play-Doh for Thade. I chose the classic Red, Yellow, Blue, and White pack. I think I’m going to go back and get a second pack, we all had so much fun playing with the Play-Doh.

Play-Doh was one of my favorites from my childhood. I was surprised that when I popped open that first container of bright red dough, that it had the exact same scent. I figured that after 20+ years (since I was little) that they might have added artificial strawberry to the red. I was very pleased that it was the same  great Play-Doh scent.

Even my hubby couldn’t resist the bright containers, and used his artistic skills to craft some Spongebob Squarepants characters. Thade couldn’t stop giggling, and asks daily when we can go and play Play-Doh again.  My only rule is it has to stay in the kitchen, but then Thade gets to hang out and play while Mommy does the dishes ;)

Night Owls and Early Birds

October 24th, 2007

I don’t know what it is about sleep, but neither of my kids like it. Thade was up off and on all through the night, and woke up promptly at 7:00 a.m. Dylan was the same, I nursed him about every three hours last night (slight improvement), and he decided that he was going to stay awake after the 6:45 a.m. feeding.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up that Dylan will sleep through the night any time soon. Thade didn’t sleep though the night until he was two, but Mommy desperately needs a solid night of sleep. Any suggestions on getting the kiddos off to dreamland and staying there for more than three hours ;) would be greatly appreciated.
